विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये विज्ञान संशोधनाची आवड निर्माण करावयाची असेल तर त्यांना शिकवणाऱ्या प्राध्यापकांनी स्वत: संशोधन करायला हवे. अध्यापनासह गुणवत्तापूर्ण संशोधन करणाऱ्या अशा महाविद्यालयातील आणि विद्यापीठातील शिक्षकांना प्रोत्साहन देण्याकरिता मराठी विज्ञान परिषदेने ही पुरस्कार योजना २०१४ पासून सुरु केली आहे. केंद्र शासनाकडून वेतन अनुदान मिळत असलेल्या शैक्षणिक संस्था वगळून महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील सर्व विद्यापीठे (ज्यात खाजगी आणि अभिमत विद्यापीठेही समाविष्ट आहेत), तसेच महाराष्ट्र राज्यात स्थित असलेली महाविद्यालये यातील शिक्षक-गण या पुरस्कारांसाठी विचारात घेतले जातात. विद्यापीठ स्तरावर एक व महाविद्यालयीन स्तरावर एक असे दोन पुरस्कार दिले जातात.
पुरस्काराचे स्वरूप : भारतीय विज्ञान-तंत्रज्ञान क्षेत्रात, त्यातही खास करून संशोधन क्षेत्रात ऋषितुल्य गणल्या जाणाऱ्या प्रा. मन मोहन शर्मा, निवृत्त संचालक, यु.डी.सी.टी, मुंबई (आत्ताची आय.सी.टी.,मुंबई) यांच्या नावे हे पुरस्कार देण्यात येतात. प्रत्येकी एक लाख रूपये रोख, सन्मानपत्र आणि स्मृतीचिन्ह असे या पुरस्काराचे स्वरूप असून पुरस्कारांचे वितरण मराठी विज्ञान परिषदेच्या अ.भा. मराठी विज्ञान अधिवेशनात केले जाते.
संशोधन क्षेत्रे : जीवशास्त्र, रसायनशास्त्र, भूशास्त्र, हवामानशास्त्र, सागरविज्ञान, खगोलशास्त्र, अभियांत्रिकी, गणित, वैद्यकीय, भौतिकशास्त्र आणि कृषिशास्त्र. (अर्थात हे विषय प्रामुख्याने दिले असले तरी, त्या विषयांपुरते मर्यादित नाही.)
वयोमर्यादा : विद्यापीठीय प्राध्यापकांसाठी (डिसेंबर २०२३ अखेर) वयोमर्यादा ५० वर्षे तर ५५ पर्यंत वयोमर्यादा असलेले महाविद्यालयीन प्राध्यापक/ या पुरस्काराकरिता अर्ज करू शकतात.
अनुभव : किमान १० वर्षे अध्यापन करणारे प्राध्यापक/सहयोगी प्राध्यापक/ सहाय्यक प्राध्यापक या पुरस्काराकरिता अर्ज करू शकतात.
अर्ज : संबंधित कागदपत्रे आणि सुयोग्य प्रकाशानांसह पूर्णपणे भरलेला अर्ज (फक्त पीडीएफ स्वरूपात) मराठी विज्ञान परिषदेकडे md@mavipa.org या इमेलवर दि. ३१ ऑगस्ट २०२३ पर्यंत पाठवावेत.

Prof. Man Mohan Sharma Awards for Science and Technology 2023
Promoting research culture among our educational institutions is undoubtedly the need of the hour. ‘Marathi Vidnyan Parishad’ has taken many initiatives in that direction. One initiative among them is ‘Prof. Man Mohan Sharma Awards for Science and Technology’. The awards are for teachers in the universities (including private and deemed to be universities) and affiliated colleges, who are doing high quality research in their educational institutes in Maharastra. Any member of teaching faculty in a college, affiliated to a State University in Maharashtra, or in a department of a (state / deemed to be) university situated in Maharashtra (excluding those educational/ research institutions or universities which receive their salary grants from the Central Government)
Each award comprises Rs.1,00,000/– (Rupees One Lakh) and a citation each. The awards are named after Prof. Man Mohan Sharma, Former Director, UDCT, Mumbai (now, ICT).
Research Areas include (but not restricted to): Biological, Chemical, Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary, Engineering, Mathematical, Medical, Physical Sciences, and Agriculture.
Age limit is 50 years for a university teacher and 55 years for a college teacher (as on 31 Dec, 2023).
Experience : Teaching experience of minimum 10 years is eligible.
